Mattia Pasini Crash at Valentino Rossi 100Km Champions: Vows Epic Comeback! (2025)

A terrifying crash, a determined rider, and a promise to return stronger than ever — this is the story of Mattia Pasini at Valentino Rossi’s 100Km of Champions.

The atmosphere at Valentino Rossi's legendary VR46 Ranch in Tavullia was electric last weekend as the 11th edition of the 100Km of Champions unfolded. This unique dirt track race attracts top motorcycle racing talent from all over, making it a thrilling showcase of skill and camaraderie. But what most people don’t realize is how unpredictable and dangerous flat track racing can be — and Mattia Pasini’s recent crash proves it in a dramatic way.

Pasini, a seasoned race veteran with Moto2 and MotoGP experience dating back to 2012, faced a frightening moment during the event on November 28. While racing closely behind 2014 Moto2 champion Tito Rabat, an unexpected collision sent Pasini crashing violently to the ground, rendering him unconscious. The incident was severe enough that emergency responders quickly airlifted him to a local hospital to ensure there were no life-threatening injuries.

Describing the crash to Italy’s GPOne, Pasini said, “I really bit the dust, but in flat track racing, accidents like this are part of the game. The impact was strong, and I was out cold for about two minutes. Fortunately, I regained consciousness and after two days in hospital, I’m feeling much better.”

He explained the moment of impact in detail: “I was drafting closely behind Tito’s rear wheel when his bike suddenly straightened as he accelerated out of the oval turn. His rear tire swept my front wheel away, causing me to fall hard on my left side. It was just bad luck — I couldn’t fault Tito. Immediately after the crash, two doctors, Dr Berardi and Dr Lucidi, appeared like guardian angels to help me.”

Thanks to their prompt medical attention and the rapid helicopter transfer to the hospital, Pasini received comprehensive checks that revealed no serious internal injuries, but some bruising and blood vessel impact near his lower back. He recalled his first helicopter flight, an experience he won't forget anytime soon.

Valentino Rossi himself was visibly relieved when Pasini regained consciousness. “Vale was worried but grateful to see me awake. I told him I was sorry I couldn’t continue in the main event, but I promised him I’d definitely be back for the next race,” Pasini shared with a resolute tone.

Despite the scare, Pasini’s spirit remains unbroken. As his determination shines through, so does a reminder of the risks these athletes take to push the limits in their sport. Pecco Bagnaia and Augusto Fernandez took the spotlight by winning the main 100Km race, but the story most fans will talk about is Pasini’s brave crash and comeback vow.

But here’s where it gets controversial — should riders be taking these risks in events outside the official MotoGP calendar? It’s a question that invites spirited debate: is the thrill and tradition worth the danger? What do you think? Would you support racers pushing the envelope in grassroots events, or should safety come first?

Mattia Pasini’s promise to return isn’t just a comeback plan—it’s a testament to the relentless passion that fuels motorcycle racers worldwide. The 12th edition of the 100Km of Champions will no doubt be one to watch, with Pasini aiming to turn tragedy into triumph.
