Kind greetings to all,
I've had my ileostomy for almost a year now. I'm thinking about buying one of those wrap-around ileostomy bag covers for men, and would appreciate any comments, advice, and product recommendations from anyone who's been using one or has tried it but eventually stopped using it. Specifically, I'm curious to know if these elastic or Velcro covers ever impede the outflow from the stoma and into the bag. If I get one, I plan to use it only when going out to a function, but not when I'm at home.
Thank you in advance!

Hi EA54,
You've come to the right place for advice! Our community is full of people who are more than willing to share their experiences and tips.
Regarding wrap-around ostomy bag covers, many find them quite useful for added discretion and comfort, especially during social events. From what I've gathered, as long as the cover is not too tight, it shouldn't impede the outflow. Elastic covers tend to be more forgiving, while Velcro ones offer adjustability. It's a good idea to try a few different types to see what works best for you. Just remember to check that the cover doesn't apply pressure on the stoma area.
Congrats on being part of this community! You'll find plenty of support, information, and some really cool people here who are always ready to help out.

What kind of cover are you exactly looking for? There are wraps, which the ones I like are at ostomysecerts. They have built-in pockets so your bag can sit in it and helps support your bag when you have output, so the bag doesn't tug so much. There are just ostomy bag covers, which just cover the bag and come in different patterns, which you can Google and find in a lot of different places. Or you have more of a belt type, like a stealthbelt. I would Google stealthbelt and ostomysecerts and see which type you are looking for.

G-Day EA54,
If you just want it to hold your bag closer to you so it doesn't show a lump, you can buy what the lady calls a Boob Tube. If you can't get one big enough, you can sew two of them together.

Terminology. You have a wrap.
You also can have a bag cover.
Two different things.
I wear a wrap. I don't think of it as a cover. It's a support. It has a pocket for the bag. If you wear a two-piece appliance, I go vertical.
It's great. But this type is wide. And you do sweat with it.
Looks almost like a corset.
With a pocket inside.
It should not impede your output. Then again, it depends on what you eat. A lot of ways to support that bag to give you confidence. To go out. Check out some sites. Please don't call it a cover. Welcome too! Good to have you.

I have been using a Stomacloak and like it pretty much. Don't know if this would meet your needs or not. Check it out:

G-Day Bob,
Doesn't this just add more bulk to your bag and make it show more?

I agree with you. It's a cover, not a support too.
Gotta have support and protection. Plenty of items out there. Google helps. And we can offer advice on those products we all tried. No b.s. propaganda.

I have a wrap that has a Velcro closure, and it has a bag where you put your bag into it, and it works really well. I use it when I go swimming. I'm not a guy, but I think it works for both genders. I got it off Amazon. I have 2. They did cost me about $80 each, but they do work well and are worth the money. And it doesn't impede output at all.
